Darmstadt, 20 February 2008 – This year will see the IFRA XMA Cross Media Awards for newspaper publishing houses presented for the third time – with the project topic “Cross-media Advertising”. Interested publishing houses can now register at the website www.ifra.com/xma. Final date for registration is 30th June 2008.

Beginning immediately, publishing houses are invited to enter their projects realised between 1st July 2007 and 30th June 2008 for the IFRA XMA Cross Media Awards 2008.
Entries can be submitted online under www.ifra.com/xma. The prizes will be awarded in the following three categories:

1. Cross-media campaigns for individual advertising customers.
2. Cross-media classified ads.
3. Community projects that target new groups of advertising customers for newspaper publishing houses.
A jury of international newspaper and media experts will judge the entries.

For further information, contact Raquel Meikle, IFRA XMA Project Team: phone +49.6151.733-927 or e-Mail xma@ifra.com.

IFRA Cross Media Awards 2008 are sponsored by Adobe and Protec and supported by Funkinform, nStein and Polopoly. Media partners are IFRA Magazine and Horizont.

Valuable cross-media knowledge in XMA database
In order to survive in the face of competition, it is essential for newspaper publishing houses today to rapidly implement innovations and new ideas. To do so – besides the corresponding technology – a great deal of inspiration is needed. This inspiration can come from projects that have already proved their value in the market, as positive examples from practice are the best instructors. For this reason, IFRA makes available a comprehensive source of know-how for media specialists on its Internet site www.ifra.com/xma, where the winning projects as well as all entries for the IFRA XMA Cross Media Awards are presented.

Following the presentation of the second XMA Awards last autumn during IFRA Expo 2007 in Vienna, this website now contains a total of 115 cross-media projects of newspaper publishing houses from 33 countries. These IFRA awards have been presented to date for the topics “Football World Cup 2006 in Germany” and “Communities”. Building communities is a permanent hot topic in newspaper publishing houses, and the examples from practice accompanying the Football World Cup in 2006 will become relevant once again later this year when major sports events, such as the Football European Championship in Austria and Switzerland and the Olympic Games in Beijing, are scheduled to take place.

IFRA offers additional information as well as corresponding services (events and training courses, projects and publications) on the topic of “Cross-media Advertising” on its website www.ifra.com.
