Both firms have similar operating styles and a strong commitment
to customer service, which should make for a smooth transition.
Acorn Press founder Donald K. Roseman will retire after 52 years
in the business, while Acorn President Scott Reighard will stay
on at the Lancaster plant in his current role.
"The teaming of Standard Offset and Acorn Press will allow
us to continue to serve our combined customers with the same dedication
to quality and responsiveness that both organizations have always
strived for," Standard Offset President Scott Vaughn said in
a release. "We look forward to continuing Acorn's long history
as a community leader in employment and civic duty."
Acorn Press was founded by Roseman and his father, Donald Roseman
Sr., who started the business in the basement of the family's Manheim
Township home in 1956 and expanded it to other buildings on the
property during the next 15 years. In the early 1970s, the company
built a 13,000-square-foot printing plant at 500 E. Oregon Road,
where the firm remains today. Over the last 30 years, Acorn Press
has expanded its facilities five times to reach its present size
of 63,000 square feet.
Standard Offset was founded in 1895 and was acquired by Charlotte
Cooper in 1983. The firm expanded to a two-division company in 1996
with the purchase of Calloway Network, a mailing and fulfillment
firm in East Hempfield Township.
Peter Schaefer, President of Compass Capital Partners, was pleased
to represent the sellers in this transaction. Recognized as the
preeminent investment banker to the printing industry, this transaction
marked Compass Capital's 142nd M&A transaction in the printing
industry.
