Buhrs Turns 100 And Prepares To Unveil The Latest In Modern Technology At drupa

Rotterdam, 25 April 2008 – Buhrs, a leading international provider of mailing and fulfilment solutions, will be presenting the latest developments in envelope inserting and poly and paper wrapping systems at its booth C46 in hall 14 at drupa. “The main objective behind all of the applications we will have on exhibit is to achieve further increases in the productivity of mailing by raising net output. We help our customers achieve this by delivering higher yields with smaller labour forces, eliminating jams, errors and defects, running at higher speeds, improving the integration of processes and devoting less time to inspections, set ups and changeovers,” explains Adrian van der Klooster, President of the company that will be celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2008.

Flexible, Peak Performance
At drupa, Buhrs will be presenting the Buhrs BB700 Envelope Inserting System, its flagship system in the area of high-performance, multiformat envelope inserting systems, together with a newly-developed, robust channel that can also be put to use with poly wrapping systems from Buhrs. The company will be demonstrating channel output processing of variable job sizes, as well as insert feeding for envelope inserting. With its ability to process formats from C6 to B4 at the highest speeds currently available, the Buhrs BB700 ranks as the fastest, most productive multiformat envelope inserting system on the market today. A Buhrs BB300 10K Envelope Inserting System that attaches plastic cards inline prior to inserting will be yet another highlight at drupa. Here, in order to ensure the highest possible integrity, a bar code contained on each plastic card will automatically be matched with the respective document it is to be inserted together with.

In the area of poly and paper wrapping, as well, Buhrs will be showing applications designed to achieve the highest possible productivity. For example, a Buhrs 3000 Poly Wrapping System will be completing a rather typical mailing task that calls for magazines to be inserted into high-quality film and then be personalised on a selective basis, using pre-printed address labels. These are read first, then buffered and finally delivered to the right set by the new Buhrs BF4 Buffer Feeder. This new innovation offers maximum flexibility with selective poly wrapping and complete control over the system upstream, as a result.

Buhrs will also be demonstrating a revolutionary way of paper wrapping that results in at least 35,000 finished envelopes per hour. The entire process involving high-speed packaging of personalised direct mail, including everything from unwinding, slitting, folding, inserting of products, gluing and closing of envelopes, printing and sorting, will be presented on a Buhrs 4000 Paper Wrapping System.

Buhrs PPS-30K, a customized high-speed postcard inkjet addressing system capable of personalizing and addressing and sorting them according to specific postal sorting criteria will also be on display. According to Buhrs, this solution is of particular interest to mailing houses, commercial printers and print finishers.

User-friendly Software for System Operators
In addition, Buhrs will be presenting its new range of software solutions for more effective mailroom management. The Mailroom Performance Manager module, for example, is capable of monitoring and analysing up to 50 envelope inserting systems that can even be located at different sites. This makes it possible to direct mailing processes in a centralised manner, control them more closely and automate complex and time-consuming processes. Furthermore, operators receive close to real-time data on production processes directly at their desks.

The Re-print Reporter module allows service bureaus, professional mailing houses, letter shops and direct mail companies to closely document their production activities with respect to both mail pieces that have already been processed, as well as those that were diverted or removed manually and consequently need to be reprinted.
