PIA/GATF’s New Comprehensive Center for Color
Management Formed
Pittsburgh, PA, April 3, 2008—The Printing Industries of America/Graphic
Arts Technical Foundation (PIA/GATF) is pleased to announce the
establishment of the Center for Color Management assisting members
with the implementation of color management and production color
controls. The Center provides consulting, training, publications,
and case-study evaluations of international print standards and
printing reference conditions.
The association reports that printers recognizing the power of
color science, advanced technologies, and integrated systems consistently
increase color accuracy and repeatability among various digital
and print media devices, while also reducing production waste.

Ken Rizzo (PIA/GATF, Director of Consulting and Custom Training)
along with Joe Suffoletto, MS, CDPS (PIA/GATF, Senior Technical
Service Consultant) oversee the Center’s activities and maintain
focus on new technologies, improving trends in color management
and production color controls. Their combined experience of over
50+ years in color science, integrated color-control systems, process
control, and manufacturing guides members effectively through the
color management process.
The Center is housed within PIA/GATF’s Sewickley, PA production
facilities, which utilize a diverse collection of workflow components
in digital and print media production from prepress through press
and postpress operations.
The PIA/GATF Center for Color Management provides vital content
and expertise for the PIA/GATF Color Management Conference, held
in Phoenix, AZ each December. The PIA/GATF Color Management Conference
focuses on advances in photography, proofing, commercial print,
packaging, and specialty areas of color management. Additionally,
the Center for Color Management presents workshops such as Success
with Stochastic/HiFi, Printing to International Standards and Specifications,
and Color Management for the Pressroom.
The PIA/GATF Center for Color Management together with PIA/GATF
Center for Lean Practices provides education and information on
process excellence for the printing industry.
