GPO Learns About Environmentally Friendly Options
From Paper Industry
WASHINGTON— Public Printer Robert C. Tapella met with dozens of
paper industry leaders from around the world to listen and learn
about paper sustainability. Industry leaders traveled to GPO headquarters
with products to explain the challenges facing their industry in
creating more sustainable paper. GPO wanted to learn what those
challenges are in order to provide customers with green paper options.
GPO hopes this open dialogue with the paper industry will continue
as they navigate and determine the parameters for gauging paper
sustainability.
“Our federal customers have asked for more sustainable paper choices,”
said Public Printer Robert C. Tapella. “GPO is one of the largest
providers of copier paper to federal agencies in the National Capital
Region. I believe GPO has the obligation to be good stewards of
our resources and to conduct business in an environmentally, economically,
fiscally sound and sustainable manner.”
Tapella outlined in January his vision for sustainable environmental
stewardship at GPO and is exploring ways to use more environmentally
responsible paper in GPO’s plant and for customers. Link to speech:
