GPO Achieves Sixth Consecutive Year Of Positive Results
WASHINGTON-The U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) released the agency's annual report for fiscal year (FY) 2009, which shows another year of net operating income. GPO completed the year with a net operating income of $1.2 million on total revenues of $934.1 million, excluding Other Operating Expenses of $4.1 million for an adjustment to GPO's long term workers' compensation liability and $1.2 million for a capitalized software impairment loss. After several years of losses, GPO continues to thrive by achieving a sixth consecutive year of net operating income. GPO's Annual Report also illustrates how the agency charged with Keeping America Informed has become the gateway to the documents of our democracy. GPO has made significant achievements in FY 2009 by providing Americans an open and transparent view on the workings of the federal government.
"I'm pleased to report that the audit of our financial reports and systems for FY 2009 conducted by KPMG LLP resulted once again in an unqualified or "clean" opinion for GPO," said Public Printer Bob Tapella. "GPO's dedicated employees and managers have built a foundation of continuous improvement and high performance which is allowing the agency to move forward in a positive direction as GPO prepares to celebrate its 150th anniversary next year."
